The Royal Hobart Hospital Research Foundation will hold its annual International Women’s Day Breakfast next Friday.
The popular event, which takes place on March 7 on the eve of International Women’s Day, is a sell-out every year according to Foundation CEO Stephanie Furler.
“Together, we champion women’s empowerment and support Tasmanian medical research,” she said.
This year’s breakfast will feature renowned Tasmanian business leader Thea Fairbrother, co-founder of Fairbrother Construction.

Fairbrother, who transitioned from nursing to construction while balancing motherhood and philanthropy, will share her journey in a discussion led by Tasmanian actor and media personality Jane Longhurst.
“Thea’s story is one of strength, perseverance and achievement, perfectly aligning with this year’s International Women’s Day theme,” Furler said.

“For all women and girls. Rights. Equality. Empowerment. The legacy she is building will inspire the next generation of women to dream big and break barriers.”
All proceeds from the event will directly support medical research focusing on earlier detection of chronic diseases.
