Man taken to hospital with gunshot wound after shooting as police launch search of Bridgewater for suspects

A man has been taken to hospital with a gunshot wound and another with a head injury following an alleged shooting in Bridgewater.

Police were called to the Finlay Street address at 9:40pm on Tuesday after receiving reports that the two men had been injured.

A search has been launched of the Bridgewater area for two offenders thought to have been involved.

Investigators say one of the suspects reportedly left the scene in a white ute.

While early in the investigation, police believe it was a “targeted incident”.

The two injured men are currently receiving treatment at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

The extent of their injuries is yet to be confirmed.

Anyone with information is being urged to come forward.

Updated 1:45pm, Wednesday December 11: A man has been arrested after a shooting incident in Bridgewater last night that left one man with a gunshot wound and another with a head injury.

Specialist officers from within Tasmania Police took the 30-year-old man from Gagebrook into custody on Terry Street in Glenorchy around 11:20am on Wednesday.

No charges have been laid at this stage.

The arrest came more than 12 hours after the incident on Finlay Street at 9:40pm, which police believe was “targeted”.

A spokesperson on Tuesday said the two injured men were taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital for treatment.

Police are encouraging anyone with information to come forward.
