The New Bridgewater Bridge has received one of the country’s highest infrastructure accolades.
The $786 million project, jointly funded by Australian and Tasmanian governments, has been awarded the prestigious 2025 Australian Construction Achievement Award.
Infrastructure Minister Kerry Vincent said the award recognised the outstanding planning, innovation, engineering and community collaboration involved in the once-in-a-generation project.
“An enormous congratulations to everybody who had something to do with that construction process,” Vincent said.

“This award is one of the most significant accolades in the country’s infrastructure sector.”
The bridge was opened on June 1 after nearly three years of construction by McConnell Dowell.

Vincent says early benefits of the new bridge are already evident, including improved travel times and enhanced freight capacity across the region.
The project created hundreds of jobs during construction and included significant investment in local content, generating economic benefits expected to continue well into the future.
“To have this work recognised at the highest national level is an achievement all Tasmanians can be proud of,” Vincent said.
