A teenage boy has been charged over the theft of a vehicle from Dodges Ferry that ended with it being driven into the water.
The 15-year-old will appear in a Hobart court on several charges on Tuesday, including aggravated burglary, stealing, unlawfully destroying property, unlicensed driving and speeding.
Police say the teenager stole the vehicle in the early hours of Friday and drove it to Frederick Henry Bay.
He was taken into custody on Monday and held overnight.
“Police will allege the offender drove the stolen vehicle to Roches Beach and caused it to become fully submerged in the water,” a spokesperson said.
“Investigations into the motor vehicle theft are continuing and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers Tasmania.”
