60 grams of meth seized from man ‘of no fixed address’ on Launceston street

A man “of no fixed address” found with over 60 grams of methylamphetamine and $5,000 in cash on a Kings Meadows street has been charged with drug trafficking.

The 43-year-old was arrested on Wednesday following searches of several Launceston properties, including homes in Riverside and St Leonards.

Police said the man was also found with ammunition, other illicit substances and a total of $5,450 in cash.

The man has been charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, dealing with property suspected of being proceeds of crime, offences relating to the seized ammunition, unlawful possession of property and minor drug offences.

He was held in custody to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on Thursday afternoon.

A 38-year-old Kings Meadows man will also be proceeded against by summons for sell and possess a controlled plant or product and ammunition-related offences.
