Mountain bike riders now have even more reason to jump for joy, quite literally, with a new jumps trail now open at the Clarence Mountain Bike Park in Mornington.

The trail on Hobart’s eastern shore, known as ‘Jack Jumper’, was built as part of the final phase of a $338,000 project within the park, alongside Monster Flow, Wright Way and Elevator Climb.

Every trail caters to riders of all skill levels, with families among the 47,000 bikers who have already taken advantage of the Flow Monster trail since it opened at the end of April.

School groups, coaches and other riders have also been making the most of a new coaching area at the park, which enables them to practice techniques before hitting the trails.

Clarence Mayor Brendan Blomeley said the new Jack Jumper trail, complete with 16 jumps, was a great addition to an already popular mountain bike park.

“We heard from the mountain bike community that an easily accessible jump trail, where riders can do lap after lap and build their confidence taking on bigger and bigger jumps was the missing piece to the popular Clarence Mountain Bike Park,” he said.

“The completion of the Jack Jumper tail cements the Clarence Mountain Bike Park as the best place in southern Tasmania for families to enjoy mountain biking together and for riders to develop their skills.”

Clarence ratepayers have chipped in over $170,000 to date on recent works at the park through Council, along with $169,110 from the Australian Government’s Building Better Regions grant.
