Tasmanians looking to cool off this summer can now enjoy a swim in the picturesque First Basin Pool, which has officially reopened for the season.
Launceston Mayor Matthew Garwood said the First Basin provides a “fun and free” swimming experience for all ages, with lifeguards on hand to ensure safety.
“Our lifeguards will be on duty at the First Basin pool every weekend between 11am and 4pm,” Garwood said.
“When school holidays begin, lifeguards will be on duty every day between 11am and 4pm through until February.”
Garwood encouraged community members to prioritise safety when swimming this summer.
“Remember that alcohol and water never mix. Keep children six years and under within arm’s reach at all times and actively supervise children under eleven,” he said.
“It’s shaping up to be a great summer and we hope everyone has a fantastic time using these facilities this summer.”
