The Launceston football community is mourning the loss of beloved “superfan” and dedicated volunteer Luci Wilson.
Wilson tragically lost her life over the weekend following a battle with illness.
Wilson was a passionate football supporter who made multiple trips to Melbourne from Launceston each year to watch her beloved Carlton Blues play, according to the Carlton Cheersquad.
“Her love of women’s sport extended to her local clubs in Launceston where she volunteered as a water girl and trainer for many years despite many health issues,” the squad said.
The Old Launcestonians Football Club described Wilson as a “beautiful soul” who will be “very missed”.
The Launceston Football Club said Wilson “was always there to lift the mood and made countless people smile”.
“Her mark on this club will never be forgotten and she will be dearly missed by so many,” the club said.
Beyond her love for football, Wilson was known for her warmth and generosity.
Jude’s Café, where Wilson worked for more than a decade, described her as someone who brought joy to the workplace with her “big smile and even bigger heart”.
“She loved nothing more than to share with us updates of her family, particularly her niece and nephews,” the café said.
“The only thing that could rival her love for family was her love for sport and her banter about it always kept us on our toes.”
