A newspaper in Tamania’s rural north-east has been saved from closure, after respected journalist and former 7 Tasmania weekend news presenter Rachel Williams purchased the masthead.

Through Williams’ communications business, Millwood Media, the North Eastern Advertiser will continue its 114 year legacy.

From Scottsdale and beyond, concerns have been growing in recent weeks after the Advertiser announced they would be shutting down when their editor went on maternity leave in July.

The North Eastern Advertiser began operations in 1909, keeping people across Tasmania’s North-East up to date with local information.
