Tasmanians can expect a taste of summer tomorrow as above-average temperatures sweep across the state, with Hobart forecast to be the state’s warmest spot.
Temperatures in the capital are expected to hit 28 degrees around noon on Wednesday, with mostly sunny skies predicted for the morning.
However, the Bureau of Meteorology is also predicting a medium chance of showers in the afternoon, accompanied by some wind.
Launceston will see slightly cooler temperatures of up to 26 degrees, with partly cloudy skies and a chance of fog in the early morning.
The north-west coast will hover around 21 degrees, while Queenstown on the West Coast is expected to reach 23 degrees.
The spell of nice weather will be short-lived, with rain forecast across Tasmania on Friday and cloudy conditions predicted for the weekend.
According to Weatherzone, a hot air mass is behind the rise in temperatures nationwide.
It will make the northern half of Australia “one of the hottest places in the world”, with temperatures already hitting 40 degrees.
“A mass of hot air will spread across Australia this week, causing temperatures to climb in parts of every state and territory,” forecasters said.
“As usual, the highest temperatures will occur over the interior and in northern parts of Australia, although even the southern states and some coastal areas will feel the pre-summer warmth.”
