Students at a school on Tasmania’s north-west coast are enjoying the benefits of new outdoor learning facilities and play equipment thanks to a $1 million upgrade.
Hillcrest Primary School in Devonport now has a new nature-based play area, mud kitchen, slide, seesaw and swings, providing students with spaces to connect, learn and grow.
Education Minister Jo Palmer said the upgrades also include new shade sails, landscaping, fencing and resurfacing and repainting of sports courts.
Principal Georgia Perry said families have welcomed the new outdoor facilities.
“Some of the existing facilities are original when the school was built in 1983,” she said.
“The improvements that have been made help ensure we continue providing high quality learning at our school for the next 40 years and beyond.”
Braddon MP Roger Jaensch said one of the exciting new features are the murals.
“These vibrant murals are colourful and eye-catching, featuring a range of native flora and fauna,” he said.
“Our schools deserve contemporary and positive environments that help students achieve their best.”
