Tasmania is continuing to show its support for the victims of the horrific stabbing attack that occurred at Westfield Bondi Junction in Sydney on Saturday.
Premier Jeremy Rockliff has announced that Hobart’s Tasman Bridge will be illuminated in blue tonight as a tribute to the six innocent lives lost.
He said the state is “standing with New South Wales” and will provide any and all support necessary as investigations continue.
The 40-year-old offender, Joel Cauchi, fatally stabbed six people in the crowded shopping centre and injured several others, including a baby.
Authorities have indicated that the attack was likely related to Cauchi’s mental health.
They are also following lines of inquiry that may suggest he carried out the attack with a specific focus on women.
Among the victims was Ashlee Good, the daughter of Tasmanian businessman and former VFL player Kerry Good.
The Good family released a statement on Sunday expressing their grief over the loss of Ashlee, whom they described as “a beautiful mother, daughter, sister, partner, friend, all round outstanding human and so much more”.
“We appreciate the well wishes and thoughts of members of the Australian public who have expressed an outpouring of love for Ashlee and our baby girl.”
