An injured emu has been found lurking on the wrong side of a locked gate at the Port of Burnie in Tasmania’s north-west this morning.
The emu, which appeared “a bit distressed” according to a local resident who found it, was taken in by the Guide Falls Farm until its owner could be located.

Residents on the Burnie Noticeboard have referred to it as the ‘legendary Burnie Emu’s return from the grave,’ while another said that it seemed to have been roaming the area for several hours.
Police are aware of the emu’s presence and arrangements are being made to reunite it with its owner.
It is believed that the emu may have escaped during the wild weather overnight.
