Tasmania’s basketball champions are set to make their debut appearance at this year’s City of Hobart Christmas Pageant.
The JackJumpers, who captured the hearts of Tasmanians and Australians with their first NBL title earlier this year, will bring their “winning spirit and community focus” to the Pageant.
The team’s iconic ant mascot Jack the Jumper and community representatives are set to add a “new and exciting dimension” to the annual event, which aims to celebrate the city’s “diverse cultural community”.
Over 15,000 spectators and 2,000 participants, including dancers, sporting clubs, businesses and various community organisations are attracted to the event each year.
Expressions of interest for participation in the Pageant are currently open, with applications closing on Monday, September 9th.
This year’s Pageant, marking its 42nd edition, will take place on Saturday, November 23rd from 10:30 am.
“It is great to welcome the JackJumpers to our Christmas Pageant for the first time,” Hobart Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds said.
“Their remarkable achievement and deep connection with the community align perfectly with the spirit of this event.”
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their success and include them in our festive traditions.”
JackJumpers CEO Christine Finnegan said the team are excited to be involved with the pageant.
“Community is at the core of all we do, engaging with Tasmanians all across the state,” she said.
“The JackJumpers float will be led by the JackJumpers’ loveable mascot Jack the Jumper, and we couldn’t think of anyone better to celebrate the holiday spirit with our community.”
