After an “extensive and highly-competitive national recruitment process”, the new Hobart City Council Chief Executive Officer has been found – just up the road.
Michael Stretton, the current CEO and a “highly experienced local government executive” at the Launceston City Council since 2017, will make the move south next year.
Lord Mayor Anna Reynolds said the council are looking forward to welcoming Stretton to Hobart in 2024.
“The Council is pleased to have secured someone of Michael’s experience,” Cr Reynolds said.
“Michael is a widely respected local government professional and is recognised as an energetic, collaborative and visionary leader who thinks and acts strategically.”
Stretton will take over from former CEO Kelly Grigsby, who resigned in July 2023, in February for a period of 5 years.
“I would like to thank both Kat Panjari and Jacqui Allen for their stewardship and hard work as Acting CEO since July this year.”
Jacqui Allen will continue to act in the role for the next 3 months.
