People in Corinna on Tasmania’s West Coast have been told to “leave immediately” as an “uncontrollable bushfire” burns at Yellowband Plain.
The Tasmania Fire Service issued the warning just before 12:30pm on Tuesday, saying the blaze “is expected to put lives in danger”.
“Fire conditions are expected to be uncontrollable, unpredictable and fast moving. The fire is travelling towards Corinna,” the TFS said.
“There is expected to be thick smoke and showers of embers which may cause fires all around you. Fires will move quickly and may come from many directions.”

Authorities said firefighters are “not able to attend” and warned that “conditions are expected to worsen”.
Nearby, a take shelter now warning is in place for Sandy Cape and surrounds.

At 12pm on Tuesday, the Tasmania Fire Service said another “uncontrollable bushfire” at Mount Donaldson was expected to put Sandy Cape at “high risk” within three to six hours.
“Conditions are expected to worsen,” the fire service said.
Upwards of 20 aircraft, including a New South Wales Boeing 737 air tanker, are monitoring the fires.
“If you have prepared your home and can actively defend it, it should provide shelter,” the fire service advises.
“If you are going to leave, make sure you have a clear path to a safer place.”
The fire service is warning people who do not live in the area to stay away as roads may be “very dangerous”.
