Major delays on Tasman Highway as water comes over road to Sorell

Motorists travelling on the Tasman Highway past Hobart Airport are facing significant delays due to water coming up over the road.

The causeways to Midway Point and Sorell are being impacted by sea spray and water on the road due to the strong winds, police say.

Traffic is currently backed up from the Tasmania Golf Club to the Cambridge Homemaker Centre.

According to Google Maps, it will take 34 minutes to travel from Cambridge to Sorell via the Tasman Highway.

“Motorists should be cautious if travelling through the area,” police said.

The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for all of Tasmania, with gusts over 100km/h recorded around the state today.
