Man charged after threatening security guard with knife in Kings Meadows

A man has been charged following an “isolated incident” at a Kings Meadows shopping complex yesterday afternoon.

Police were called to the centre on Thursday at around 4pm after reports a man had threatened a security guard while in possession of a knife.

A spokesperson said nobody was physically injured in the incident and the man had fled the scene.

He was later found at an address in Youngtown and taken into custody without incident.

Police arrested the man in Youngtown a short time later

The 27-year-old Launceston man has since been charged with being unlawfully armed in public and common assault.

He is scheduled to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court today.
