“Employees from Tassal had a vessel in the immediate area and were able to rescue the male from the water,” police said.

“The male was treated by members of Tasmania Ambulance at the scene and remains in a stable condition at the Royal Hobart Hospital.”

He was wearing a life jacket at the time, which police said was ‘crucial to the positive outcome’.

“Police would like thank members of the public for their assistance and to remind them of the importance of marine safety and the necessity to wear lifejackets when participating in water sports,” they said.
