Man rushed to Royal Hobart Hospital with serious injures after Warwick Street altercation

Updated 6pm, Monday March 4: Detectives have charged a 57-year-old man from Hobart with one count of causing grievous bodily harm after an alleged serious assault in the city.

The man will appear in an after hours session at the Hobart Magistrates Court on Monday following the Warwick Street incident yesterday.

The 61-year-old victim remains in a serious condition at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

Earlier: A 62-year-old man has been rushed to the Royal Hobart Hospital with serious injuries after an altercation on a Hobart street this morning.

Police say officers were called to a “report of a man being injured” at the address on Warwick Street around 11am on Sunday.

The incident, which allegedly involved two people known to one another, resulted in the 62-year-old being seriously injured.

A 57-year-old man was taken into custody at the scene without incident.

Charges are yet to be laid.

Investigators are asking any witnesses that may have been in the area at the time to come forward to police or Crimestoppers anonymously.
