Motorists travelling through Prospect and South Launceston are being warned of upcoming nighttime roadworks that could cause delays of up to 15 minutes.

The work on the Midland Highway is part of State Growth’s annual road maintenance program and will involve resurfacing and linemarking.

From Sunday to Tuesday, the Launceston-bound Bass Highway/Midland Highway connector ramp at Prospect will be resurfaced.

A full ramp closure will be in place from 6pm to 6:30am each night, with detours available via the Kings Meadows Link.

During the day, the ramp will be open with a reduced speed limit.

Full ramp closure at Prospect will occur nightly from 6pm to 6:30am

Linemarking on the ramp will take place from November 12 to 19, with occasional lane closures and a reduced speed limit during nighttime hours.

Work on the Hobart and Launceston-bound lanes of the Midland Highway between the Bass Highway connector and Pipeworks Road overpass in South Launceston will begin on Wednesday and is scheduled for completion one week later.

Lane closures and a reduced speed limit will be in place during nighttime working hours from 6pm to 6:30am.

“While we will make every effort to keep to scheduled work dates, these works are extremely weather dependent and are subject to change,” a spokesperson said.

“Please remember to follow the direction of traffic controllers and signs and keep to the posted speed limit.”

“More resurfacing is planned for other major highways across the state throughout the warmer months with dates to be confirmed.”
