A woman caught drink driving at seven times the legal alcohol limit in Binalong Bay has been slammed by police.

The 44-year-old was pulled over on Wednesday with a blood alcohol reading of 0.349%, which authorities say is “extreme”.

Inspector Luke Manhood said the woman is facing charges for high-range drink driving, driving while disqualified and other traffic offences.

“There is quite simply no excuse for this behaviour,” he said.

“We could be operating anywhere, at any time. If you think you won’t get caught, you should think again.”

Two other drunk drivers were also apprehended in the area recently, including a 30-year-old man stopped more than two and a half times the legal limit at Stieglitz and a 55-year-old man found driving drunk in Scamander.

A 37-year-old man from Akoroa was also caught drink driving just over the limit last Wednesday.

“These drink drivers follow two drug drivers who were caught at St Marys and Beaumaris the week before last,” Manhood said.

“Police in St Helens and across the state will continue to crack down on drink and drug driving to keep our roads as safe as possible.”
