Over $34,000 has been raised for the family of a young mother who died in a crash south of Launceston two days after Christmas.

Chantelle Butler, 33, was driving on Main Road at Perth around 9:45am on December 27 when she crashed into a pole and two parked cars.

A close friend of the family, Adam Beechey, started the online fundraiser to support Chantelle’s husband Matthew, their daughter Lacey and newborn son Edward.

He said Butler’s “huge smile, kindness and personality will always be remembered and deeply missed”.

“December 27 will always be a day we wished was only a bad dream and not reality,” Beechey wrote.

“This day changed for all of us, more so for Matt, Lacey and little Edward Bessell when their beautiful mum and Matt’s love of his life was tragically taken from them.”

“What should have been the most memorable day taking the caravan on its maiden voyage when Matt finished work turned into a nightmare.”

Tasmania Police are investigating the cause of the crash, including the possibility that it was medical-related.

“Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the woman who sadly died,” police said following the incident.
