P-plater disqualified as police hunt second driver in high-speed Hobart race

Police are looking for driver of one of two Commodores caught “racing each other” at more than double the speed limit on Hobart’s Southern Outlet last night.

The silver and blue Holdens were clocked at over 150km/h in the 80km/h zone between Westside Circle and Huntingfield Avenue around 5pm on Wednesday.

The driver of the silver Commodore, a young P-plater, was stopped and their car was clamped.

They were disqualified from driving on the spot.

The blue Commodore involved was found overnight and clamped, with police saying “investigations are continuing to locate the driver”.

Investigators are asking anyone with dashcam footage of the cars in the area at the time to contact Kingston Police.
