Emergency services have rushed to the aid of a pedestrian who has reportedly been struck by a vehicle on the Brooker Highway.
The incident has caused extensive delays for northbound motorists travelling through Derwent Park, with queues of vehicles stretching back to the city.
Police earlier said the pedestrian had sustained minor injuries, but have since updated their status to serious.
“Emergency services remain at the scene and will be there for some time,” police said.
“Traffic flow is heavily affected … there will be significant delays until further notice.”
“Motorists are asked to approach with caution or avoid the area until the scene is clear.”
According to Google Maps, it will take motorists in excess of 40 minutes to travel the 9.6km from the Hobart CBD to Glenorchy via the Brooker Highway.
