'Failed to give way': Police car totalled after crash at Brinktop Road intersection

A Tasmania Police vehicle has been written off following a crash on the Tasman Highway tonight.

A significant number of emergency service vehicles rushed to the highway at the intersection with Brinktop Road around 9:30pm on Friday.

The police vehicle, a marked 2023 Ford Ranger, was travelling south when a car “failed to give way” at the intersection, police said.

Both the police officers and occupants of the other vehicle were taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital.

Authorities described the extent of their inures as minor.

The highway was partially blocked during the incident, with SES crews diverting vehicles past the scene.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and are asking anyone who saw a blue Subaru Impreza in the area at the time to come forward.
