A man caught driving at more than five and a half times the legal alcohol limit before 9am this morning has been taken into custody.
The 56-year-old from Kelso was intercepted by police on the Batman Highway after several members of the public called 000 to report his ‘erratic’ driving.
He reportedly blew 0.276 when breathalysed at the roadside and was arrested.
The man was later bailed and is scheduled to appear in court in December.
Police are asking now anyone who witnessed his black Holden Statesman in the area at the time to come forward.
“This incident highlights how police and the community can work together to support road safety,” a spokesperson said.
“To report dangerous driving, call police on 131 444 or Triple Zero (000) in an emergency.”
