A police officer has been injured and a crime scene established following a “serious incident” involving an armed man in Launceston this morning.
Officers were called to St Johns Street in the CBD around 10am on Tuesday following reports a man armed with a weapon was threatening members of the public.

Police are yet to confirm what weapon was involved.
“The person of interest and a police officer have been injured during the incident,” a police spokesperson said.
“The person of interest has suffered serious injuries and is being treated at the scene.”
A further update provided by police detailed the alleged offender’s injuries as “critical” and the officer’s as “non-life-threatening”.
Both have been taken to the Launceston General Hospital for treatment.
Police have confirmed there is “no ongoing threat to the wider community”.
St Johns Street between William and Cimitiere streets and Cimitiere Street between Charles and St Johns streets are currently closed.
