MP and former Liberal Senator for Tasmania Eric Abetz has congratulated Donald Trump on his election victory.
Abetz took to social media to express his support for the President-elect shortly after the results were announced on Wednesday evening.
“Beware the silent majority! Americans have voted strongly in favour for a positive future and rejected fear and negativity,” he wrote.
“Congratulations to Donald J Trump on becoming the 47th President of the United States.”
“Australia looks forward to continuing our strong working relationship.”
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has also congratulated Trump on his victory.
“Australians and Americans are great friends and true allies,” he wrote on X.
“Working together, we can ensure the partnership between our nations and peoples remains strong into the future.”
