The developers behind a new fast-food hub next to the Glebe Hill Village shopping centre have been given the green light to build two new restaurants.
Plans that include a Hungry Jack’s outlet and KFC restaurant were waved through without debate by the Clarence City Council during a meeting on Monday night.
The $7.5 million complex will also house a Caltex service station, providing the sole fuel stop between Howrah and Rokeby.
The neighbouring Glebe Hill Shopping Centre, which opened in August 2022, already boasts a McDonald’s outlet, Coles supermarket and various other smaller retailers.
“The proposed development comprises four fuel bowsers, a service station building to the south-east of site, a Hungry Jack’s with drive-through to the north of site, a KFC with drive-through to the south-west of site and parking dispersed around the site,” the application read.
“Immediately to the east of site is the existing Glebe Hill Village … the primary shopping centre for a large number of residents of the surrounding suburbs of Glebe Hill, Rokeby, Howrah, Clarendon Vale and Oakdowns.”
In February, the council approved an application for a fast-food restaurant similar to KFC and additional shops at the nearby Cambridge Homemaker Centre.
