A bushfire has broken out in Nugent, around 40 minutes north-east of Hobart, prompting authorities to issue a smoke alert.
Tasmania Fire Service crews are currently on scene at the blaze, located on Nugent Road south of Buckland.
Authorities say there is no threat to nearby communities at this time, but smoke, ash and embers may be visible around Buckland and the surrounding areas.
“People at higher risk from the effects of smoke, including those with medical conditions, should enact their personal plan for avoiding smoke and managing their health,” a Tasmania Fire Service spokesperson said.
“People traveling in the area should be careful if driving in smoke. Turn on your headlights, drive slowly and be aware of emergency services in the area.”
