Firefighters have been called in to bring a log pile fire at a property in Hobart’s northern suburbs under control this morning.
The blaze on Elderslie Road in Brighton began shortly before 5am on Sunday.
Authorities have issued a smoke alert for the nearby area, but say the fire poses no threat to the community.
“There is expected to be smoke from this fire visible around Elderslie, Brighton and surrounding areas,” the Tasmania Fire Service said.
“People at higher risk from the effects of smoke, including those with medical conditions, should enact their personal plan for avoiding smoke and managing their health.”
“People traveling in the area should be careful if driving in smoke. Turn on your headlights, drive slowly and be aware of emergency services in the area.”
