The search for a stadium project director to lead the development of the proposed Macquarie Point stadium has begun, with the State Government now advertising the $1 million position.
The project director will have the responsibility of overseeing the planning and delivery of the stadium and will earn a cool annual salary of between $209,000 and $240,000 for a fixed term of five years.
According to the job description, the director will work with the project’s steering committee and Stadiums Tasmania, the future operator of the facility.
“This will include working with the project steering committee and related requirements, working closely with Stadiums Tasmania as the future operator and delivery partners (both government and non-government),” the job description reads.
They will also provide “regular updates to stakeholders, project direction, management and assurance and procurement and management of consultancies including project management”.
Minister for Stadia and Events Nic Street said key procurement tenders for the development design will be released in January “to secure a suitably experienced team to design our stadium”.
The Tasmanian Planning Commission has recently released draft integrated guidelines for assessing the project, which Street says will be used to “inform the design of the stadium”.
