Thick black smoke blankets Devonport, streets closed as firefighters tackle large shed fire

Thick black smoke is billowing across Devonport this morning as firefighters work to contain a large shed fire.

Several streets around the burning Raymond Street address have been closed while crews work to contain the blaze.

Police say Raymond Avenue, Watkinson Street, Steele Street and Nixon Street will stay closed until further notice.

Tasmania Fire Service crews from Devonport and nearby Burnie and Latrobe are at the scene.

“Crews are working to quickly contain and control this fire,” the TFS said.
