A Tasmania Police Sergeant has been arrested over allegations of family violence overnight.
A spokesperson did not reveal the officer’s age, gender or rank, only stating that they were from the Southern District, in a statement on Wednesday morning.

They said the Tuesday night arrest came as a result of an “ongoing investigation” into family violence matters.
“The officer will appear in court in relation to a family violence order and in relation to a restraining order involving another police officer,” they said.
“It is not appropriate to comment further at this stage.”
The officer has been stood down as a result of the court process.
