Tasmanian Assessment Standards and Certification has issued an apology for exam errors

The Tasmanian Assessment Standards and Certification has been forced to apologise after several errors were found in end-of-year exam papers, including incorrect questions and spelling mistakes.

At least five out of the 24 written tests have been flagged as having issues, with errors ranging from simple spelling mistakes to more serious problems like contradicting figures in the physics exam.

Students have reported questions being written incorrectly, leading some to answer them differently than intended.

One example cited a question that stated the points on a diagram were 10cm apart, while the diagram itself showed they were only 7cm apart.

A TASC spokesperson said they “understand how stressful this time of year” is for students as they undertake written exams.

Despite the errors, the authority has maintained that student results will not be impacted.

“We can reassure students and schools that the errors are not substantive and will not impact student results,” they said.

There are still two more days of exams remaining.
