Tasmanian P-plater speeds into $606 fine and licence loss at 135km/h

A young driver on his P-plates has been caught hurtling down the East Tamar Highway at 35km/h above the speed limit.

The driver was stopped by police on Saturday as he raced through the Long Reach 100km/h zone at 135km/h.

He was given a fine of $606, five demerit points will now lose his licence as a result.

“With more traffic on the roads, we’re urging everyone to slow down when travelling this festive season,” police said.

“We want you to make it home safely for Christmas.”
