Tasmania’s annual Gin-uary festival is returning to Hobart’s PW1 this January.

The two-day event, now in its eighth year, will showcase the state’s thriving spirits industry and offer attendees the chance to sample a wide range of gins, whiskies, vodkas and liqueurs from over 30 local distillers.

Organiser Nicole Fisher said the festival has grown significantly since its inception, reflecting the state’s reputation for producing high-quality spirits that are celebrated across Australia and the world.

“Gin-uary gives Tasmanian distillers national exposure and offers local and interstate consumers the opportunity to sample a huge variety of well-known, as well as brand new and exclusive, Tasmanian spirits,” she said.

“We know that we are in frugal times, people have less money to treat themselves.”

“To entice attendees, the first 500 tickets purchased will receive a bottle of Tasmania Vodka, distilled especially to celebrate Gin-uary.”

Founder of Tasmanian Tonic Co Dina Gregson is sponsoring the event for the third year.

“As a proudly Tasmanian family-owned business we are always eager to support other Tasmania products and Gin-uary is a crucial event for the Tasmania Spirits Industry,” she said.

Turner Stillhouse from Launceston will be among the businesses participating in the festival.

“We really enjoy attending Gin-uary each year, it has a very fun festival vibe that we wouldn’t miss,” National Sales Manager Katie Elphinstone said.

The festival will run from January 18-19 across three four-hour sessions.
