18-year-old Tasmania Devils player Geordie Payne has been drafted to North Melbourne tonight, coming in as pick 1 in the mid-season draft.
Devils coach Jeromey Webberley says the North Launceston building apprentice has a great chance of a senior debut in the coming weeks, following his huge performance in the Coates Talent League this year.

Payne, overcome with emotion, hid his face in his jumper as his family celebrated his selection as pick No.1.
“There were a few tears shed,” he told AFL.com.au.
“It’s been a lifetime dream of mine and for it to come true I didn’t know what to think.”
He’ll join former Devils teammate Colby McKercher at the Roos.
