Teenage dirt bike rider airlifted to hospital after crash in western Tasmanian wilderness

A teenage dirt bike rider has been airlifted to hospital after a crash in the state’s west coast wilderness.

The 16-year-old was reportedly riding along Four Mile Beach at Ahrberg Bay near Granville Harbour on Sunday when he came off his bike and sustained serious injuries.

Emergency services, including the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, responded to the incident and transported the young rider to the Royal Hobart Hospital for treatment.

Initial investigations indicate the rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Police are looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident and are asking anyone with information to come forward.
