Traffic lights out as cable fault cuts power to hundreds of Launceston businesses

A power outage has plunged parts of Launceston and Invermay into darkness, affecting over 400 properties.

The outage, caused by a fault in an underground cable, has impacted businesses along Cimitiere Street and Paterson Street in the CBD.

The Seaport and many businesses along the East Tamar Highway are also being affected.

TasNetworks crews are currently working to repair the fault, but a restoration time is yet to be confirmed.

Traffic lights across parts of the CBD are also being affected, with motorists urged to drive with care.
