Two young men are in hospital with serious injuries and another has been arrested after a serious crash following a police evade in Hobart overnight.
Officers saw a black Ford Falcon sedan allegedly driving dangerously near the intersection of Derwent Park Road and Brooker Highway around 11:15pm on Friday.
Police attempted to intercept the vehicle, however, the driver failed to stop.
The vehicle crashed into a power pole near the intersection at Main Road a short time later.
A 21-year-old man seated in the front passenger seat was transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital with serious injuries.
An 18-year-old man in the back seat was also taken to hospital with non-serious injuries.
The driver, a 23-year-old man from Herdsmans Cove, was arrested and charged with evade police with aggravated circumstances, driving whilst his licence is suspended and dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm.
Police say the vehicle was completely destroyed in the crash.
“At the time of the crash, the road was wet due to adverse weather,” police said.
“Police urge all drivers to slow down, obey the road rules and drive to the conditions.”
Police Professional Standards have been notified of the incident.
