A winter solstice festival complete with a “massive” Big Top tent, live music and camping is in the works for Burnie.

The Burnie Agricultural and Pastoral Society have put the call out for ideas, particularly for headline Aussie artists that people would like to see perform at the event.

The festival, penciled in for July 2025, aims to get Tasmanians “off the couch” and “drown away the winter blues” for people.

It will feature a range of activities, including bands, carnival rides, plus food and drink stalls.

A “massive” Big Top tent will be a highlight of the winter festival, according to organisers

A camping ground will also be available for those who want to stay overnight.

The event is inspired by the recent success of the Good Gumnuts Festival, held from January 3 to 5 this year, which recently moved to the Agriplex site near Ridgley.

Ideas for the headline artist can be shared on the Burnie Show & Agri-Expo Facebook page.
