A 13-year-old remains in the intensive care unit after sustaining serious injuries when the motorbike he was riding with three others collided with a car in Hobart’s northern suburbs yesterday.

Police were called to the “extremely confronting scene” on Lamprill Circle in Herdsmans Cove around 5:30pm on Thursday where they found four injured youths.

The 13-year-old boy, who was riding as a passenger alongside two 14-year-olds, was rushed to the Royal Hobart Hospital in a serious condition.

The 17-year-old rider and his passengers were also hospitalised with less severe injuries, while the 53-year-old woman driving the vehicle was uninjured.

“Initial investigations indicate that the driver of the vehicle was making a right hand turn from Lamprill Circle into Dilkara Place when the crash occurred,” police said.

“Initial investigations also indicate that the youths were not wearing helmets at the time of the crash.”
