A teenage girl accused of smashing several windows at a business in the Hobart CBD and assaulting a staff member has been charged.
Police were called to the Elizabeth Street Mall around 5pm on Tuesday after reports the young person was smashing windows with a hammer.
The staff member was able to restrain the 14-year-old girl until police arrived.
The teenager will appear in the Hobart Youth Justice Court next month on charges of common assault, unlawfully using a dangerous article in a public place and destroying property.
Constable D’arne Triffett said the staff member walked away from the incident without serious injury.
“Behaviour such as this will not be tolerated,” Triffett said.
