26-year-old arrested and charged with firearms offences following Launceston raid

A man from Waverley has been charged with multiple firearms offences following a raid on a home in the Launceston suburb.

Specialist police searched the Waverley address on Saturday morning, finding five firearms, including two rifles and three shotguns.

One of the rifles was confirmed as stolen, while the other, along with the shotguns, are being held for forensic testing.

A large quantity of ammunition and various firearms parts were also seized.

The 26-year-old was arrested at the scene and charged with multiple firearms offences and other offences.

He was granted bail and will appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court in September.

Police are urging anyone with information about illegal firearms to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
