SeaLink Bruny Island ferry services have been temporality suspended for a period due to damaging high winds.
A 10am update from the ferry operator said all services would be paused until further notice.
“We apologise for any inconvenience and we will continue to monitor the situation to resume services,” the company said.
A further update at 11am said services would resume at 11:10am from Kettering and 11:30am from Roberts Point.
SeaLink thanked passengers for their patience.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for the north-north-east and east coasts of Tasmania, predicting damaging winds averaging 60 to 70km/h and with peak gusts of around 100km/h.
“Damaging wind gusts of around 100km/h are possible in showers on and ahead of the cold front,” the weather bureau said.
“Locations which may be affected include Scottsdale, Whitemark, St Helens, Swansea, Bicheno and Fingal.”
In the south, an 87km/h wind gust was recorded ay Dunalley at 10:32am and a 78km/h gust at Hobart Airport at 11am.
