A $300,000 project to upgrade walking tracks at Waratah Falls and transform the nearby rail bridge into a tourism attraction has been completed.

The project, initiated four years ago, aimed to boost tourism and provide a unique visitor experience in the remote West Coast town seven minutes from the Murchison Highway.

It included upgrades to the Waratah Falls walking tracks and a planned viewing platform to enhance the falls’ visibility and appeal.

The railway bridge upgrade involved building a floating pontoon bridge with access ramps, while outdated walkway infrastructure on the adjacent former rail bridge was removed.

Minister Michael Ferguson said the upgrades will provide a safer and more enjoyable experience for locals and visitors.

“We invested $300,000 to this important project to improve walking tracks and revitalise the rail bridge as a tourism experience,” he said.

“We look forward to seeing people enjoying these experiences.”
