Hobart residents have been subject to a bucket of hail this evening, with a brief shower coating backyards in the white ice balls.
The Bureau of Meteorology said the hail fell during a short rain event that passed over the city between 7pm and 8pm on Thursday.
Hobart is set for a chilly end to the week with temperatures struggling to reach the mid-teens.
The city will hit a top of just 13 degrees on Friday, 18 degrees on Saturday and 21 degrees on Sunday.
Launceston will also experience cool conditions, with forecasts predicting a top of 16 degrees on Friday, 17 degrees on Saturday and 20 degrees on Sunday.
The Bureau of Meteorology says a southwesterly stream over Tasmania will tend southerly early on Friday.
A high will move over the state later Friday and then out over the Tasman Sea early Saturday, bringing a northerly flow.
A weak cold front will cross Tasmania early on Sunday, with another cold front expected to cross the state early on Monday.
