“Heard two bangs and now no power,” one local said.

The incident has cut power to much of Launceston’s west, including Trevallyn, Riverside and parts of the CBD and Kings Meadows.

A spokesperson for TasNetworks said crews are on site working to restore power as quickly as possible.

“Your safety, and the safety of our people is our highest priority, and we ask our customers to please only call our fault centre if you see power lines are down or damaged.”
